Cancun International airport is about 74 miles from the property. The expanse of jungle you´ll glimpse from the plane coming into Cancun, plays host to a variety of exotic flora and fauna indigenous to the Yucatan Peninsula, including howler and spider monkeys, crocodiles and endangered jaguars. The area is also home to the Mesoamerican Coral Reef, second only in size to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Tulum was one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya; it was at its height between the 13th and 15th centuries and managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico.
